FAQ
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments necessary varies for every injury and is very patient specific. There are a lot of factors that effect the healing and recovery time of an injury or post surgical rehabilitation. You may need just one visit, or you may need months of care depending on the diagnosis, the severity of the injury, your past medical history and more. The number of treatments will be decided by the physical therapist and your referring physician.
Do I need a prescription for Physical Therapy?
No, New Jersey is now a participating state in Direct Access for physical therapy. What Direct Access means is that a patient is able to be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without a prescription from a physician. Some insurance companies may still require you to consult with a physician first, so please check with your insurance carrier prior to scheduling an appointment.
What types of treatments do you perform?
Our facility performs various types of treatments and provides customized programs for each patient to ensure that the best treatment is being given for your particular injury. Some of the treatments we perform include: electric stimulation, ultrasound, soft tissue massage, postural exercises, stretching, iontophoresis, therapeutic exercise and more. To see a full list of our treatment options visit the “Services” page.
Is there anything I can do at home to help speed up the recovery process?
An individualized Home Exercise Program can be designed for you to complete daily at home. The Home Exercise Program will consist of exercises and stretches that can be completed safely in between physical therapy sessions. All Home Exercise Programs will be reviewed in the office to ensure that you are completing the exercises correctly. The goal of the Home Exercise Program is to help control your symptoms and speed up the recovery process.
What is the age range of patients you see in your facility?
We see patients of all age ranging from preteens to senior citizens.
How is my progress measured?
Each day you attend physical therapy, an exercise flow sheet is kept of the exercises you complete, how many repetitions you complete and what weights you use. The physical therapist will re-evaluate each patient on a monthly basis, or prior to the patient returning to their physician. Progress notes will be sent to the referring physician, from your initial evaluation as well as any updated evaluations so your progress can be tracked. Continuation of therapy will ultimately be decided by the referring physician.
