Our facility is equipped with a number of physical fitness machines, including a Biodex Strength
Testing System and a Biodex Balance System. These two systems are state of the art rehabilitation
machines that are used to quantitatively evaluate the patient’s strengths and weaknesses. Both of
these machines play a crucial part in the rehabilitation process of a variety of different injuries.
The Biodex Strength System is a machine used for isokinetic exercising and to test the strength of the knee, shoulder and ankle joints. The Biodex provides a computer-controlled resistance and can be set up to provide different levels of resistance depending on the injury, and whether the patient is performing a test or an exercise program. The isokinetic testing feature is a very helpful tool used to report and document a patient’s progress, and determines if they are ready for discharge or to return to a sport or job. We are also an authorized IPCS testing facility, in which a series of tests are performed to determine an individual’s ability to perform a specific occupation.
The Biodex Balance System can be used for a number of different rehabilitation processes. This machine offers static and dynamic settings for balance training, fall risk screening, neurorehabilitation, wellness, and orthopedic rehabilitation of the lower extremity. The Balance System is used on patients of all ages who have a variety of injuries. This machine can be used to improve a patient’s balance, develop muscle tone, increase agility, improve strength in the lower extremity, improve range of motion in the ankle, and more. This system is equipped with testing features that allow the patient’s progress to be recorded and measured accurately.
